Raining in the Morning

I don't like morning because it makes me feel melancholy.
I hate it so much because it makes me missing someone I can't even remember.
I hate raining in the morning because it will be cold and it will be nice to curl up on the bed in your comfortable blanket but you need to wake up and do errands.

Monopoly

One of my wishlist for my upcoming birthday in January is this Monopoly City 3D which available in Toys R Us 1Borneo KK.
My Siblings and I have obsession towards this particular game.
Our longest time for playing a single set of Saidina (similar to Monopoly) is from Sahur until Maghrib in Ramadhan.

We even invented new rules and totally new games to make the game more interesting.
Those were the days when we were happy and innocent child.

Last few nights, I asked my brother to join me for a Monopoly game in my laptop and he can't stop forcing us to play more games with him day and night. My sister started to join us and we killed so may hours over this game.

I am so happy to be able to bond with them with this simple game and most importantly
WAR IS STILL ON UNTIL END OF THIS HOLIDAY

Mabul @ Uncle Chang

Uncle Chang Mabul Backpackers Lodge started as humble guest house somewhere in 2003.
He organized diving in islands around Semporna in 1999 but he started the lodge few years later.
Uncle Chang is a pioneer of budget diving in Semporna specially Sipadan.
Back then, only those with money making it possible to dive in Semporna.

2 years later, he add a new wing we often called new rooms (NR) which doesn't last long as guest rooms.
The green guest house and NR quickly become staff quarters as the yellow house began to open to backpackers guest somewhere in 2006.

2 years later, he foreseen the important of having double rooms because of the increasing popularity not only for the backpackers but family groups and honeymooners as well.
Therefore the UC block officially open for guest in August 2008.

Uncle Chang went even further to build bungalows which will be open for guest starting next year.

The struggle is not as easy as my few sentences and pictures. We had to deal with government bureaucracy through the years specially regarding the Sipadan permits after the Abu Sayyaf scene.

As a dive operator, having a suitable diving boat is crucial. We also have update on boats over the years. Started from a wooden 'kampung' boat until today we have total of 9 boats including the latest addition of 600 horse power catamaran. Each new boat celebrated by the staff and people who had work with Uncle Chang.

We also have difficulty to deal with guests who are not familiar with the backpackers term and they expecting 5 star service for a budget price. However, worries about a fraction of difficult guest will quickly washed away when satisfied diver having their greatest dive in this underwater heaven with an affordable price.

The people in Uncle Chang's had changed over the years. Some of them work for very short term. Some of them come and go and will come again to work at UC.

But we will remain friends remembering our happy days in the lodge.
Uncle Chang Mabul Backpackers Lodge become alive because of the people who've been there!

This is a place I call home regardless how much changes happen in very short time.

Keningau

Thank you to Billionaire Bingkor for being a good host.
Your house is beautiful with the paddy field view from your window and you
certainly is the socialite of Keningau.

Thank you Miss Zaza for being a good GPS and an excellent caterer.
Your mum is really a good cook. Love her food so much!

Honey Sweet Cafe is hip, relatively cheaper than KK's,
very good food and bonus the sweet handsome waiters.

Keningau has a unique carwash.
Just bring your vehicle to a dam in Bunsid and wash them with
the river water for free.

Sungai Bunsid was very cold even in hot sunny afternoon.

So Long, farewell.

We'll be back for more!!!

Single or Taken

I always divided my friends into two groups.

The Singles

The Taken

Single friends are much more fun to hang out with because they have:
  1. Freedom
  2. Free time and
  3. they are ready to do anything
Everytime I have spontaneous, wild and crazy plans obviously I will invite the singles first.

Taken friends have the tendency to reject your invitition because they are
  1. not allowed by their significant other(s) to go out or
  2. they have date with their significant other(s)
However, please expect the taken friends to suddenly pop up in your life. This will happen when they have
  1. a silly fight with the significant other,
  2. a serious fight with the significant other, and
  3. they are being neglected or
  4. they just broke up
Your roles as a friend when the above situations happen are to:
  1. offer sympathy
  2. lend an ear for their problems
  3. give appropriate feedback
  4. say things like 'he is a jerk anyway'
  5. take them out for some fun
  6. accompany them for binge eating specially ice cream and chocolate
  7. be a relationship therapist
  8. provide tissues
  9. be the messenger when they are in the process of being together again
  10. be neglected when they are love birds again
p/s: Reflect Yourself.

Melancholy

There are times in 24 hours of a day.
I will have absolutely nothing to do.

Recollecting memories.
Regretting few silly choices.
Reminiscence of my innocent years.

Life is a cumulative of decisions.
Wishing there are parallel universe;
where a happier version me,
living live to the fullest.

Paintball @ Suria Sabah

I do think a paint ball venue in a shopping mall is a good idea.
It offer an alternative to the traditional shopping mall entertainment like bowling, movies, arcade, snooker and Karaoke. Even though the venue is relatively small, but it is convenient and something new. People in KK no longer have to travel miles and far away to deep jungle to enjoy paint ball, we can just being spontaneous, watching 3D movie and get into action ourselves the next second.

So, my siblings, our friends and I decided to play a paint ball game a week ago.
Honestly, it is a bit expensive for students like us.

The rate is RM20 for 200 re-balls (do not splash colour) bullet, 200 bullets is the minimum package. For those who can afford more, 200 colour bullets available for RM40 per person.

The Marshall gave us very strict briefing, tutorial on how to start the game and how handle the rifle. They were extremely strict on wearing all the safety gear. Don't even think for a second to open the mask, they will shout at you like it is the end of the world!!!

We have 4 rounds of game in an hour. The boys finished all their bullet, but the girl still have half of them. Very tiring and lots of fun. The rifle/gun things were very heavy. Be prepared.

Wear comfortable clothes, the colour mark is easily remove by normal washing. So. no worries.
They don't required us to wear shoes, so kaki ayam all the way if you like.

Discount on Hotels in KK

Do you always wanted to stay in a nice, clean and comfortable bed for a night, just for fun?
Your family and friends are coming to town and you just don't have enough room in the house?

You can try this few tips to look for a decent hotel in KK with very discounted price.

  2. Always book with the same hotel. Be nice with the front desk staff and housekeeping. They will remember your name, nicer and give you free upgrade frequently. Try: Grand Borneo Hotel.
  3. Look for new hotels. They will always have ridiculously cheap promotion price. Try: Tang Dynasty Bay Hotel.
  4. Ask for membership. They will give you discount coupons, discount on your birthday and discount just for being a member. Try: KK Time Square Hotel.

Fun Fair @ Tuaran

Finally, the ferris wheel near Tuaran-Kota Belud Petronas station is moving.

My obses-with-fun fair-games-sister, Jamilah determined to go to the fun fair even though it is raining cats and dogs earlier in the afternoon. Maybe it makes her remember our childhood days, back when our father opened a 'gerai' in fun fair around Semporna and Tawau. We practically knew everyone and we got free ride every night on ferris wheel and haunted house.

She organized a dinner at Gayang Seafood restaurant for Sudir, Dung and me. Then, after full and feeling slightly sleepy because of the 1kg prawns, we are ready and excitedly heading towards the fun fair.

All the game is quite expensive, you'll need 2 tokens to play each game and 1 token cost RM2. They only have 2 rides for grown ups and we don't even consider to go to the haunted house because it looks NOT scary from the outside. Quite disappointed really.

Luckily we brought two best thrower from Semporna and we managed to win 2 bottles of F&N Orange and one very big Sponge Bob.

p/s: Happy 27th Birthday Sudir!

Read Responsibly!!!

I am urging all Malaysian to read with responsibility and sensibility.
  • Please differentiate between facts and perceptions
  • Please check the source
  • Please don't share/forward whatever article you read in Facebook because you annoyed me.
  • Please look at what you read from different point of view
  • Please don't just blindly believe in whatever you read and urge everyone to have the same opinion as you.
Thank you.

Borneo Bloggers

A friend of mine, wawa asked me to come this 3 days event with her. We got free entrance for emailing the sponsor earlier and we are quite excited about it.

The media dialogue certainly gave me so many new perspectives on blogging atmosphere not only in Sabah and Sarawak but also Brunei and Kalimantan as well. Not forgetting all the free delicious food served by the organizer.

Unfortunately, I am not very good in socializing and meeting online friend for the first time and the obligation to network with other bloggers make me nervous, I think I need to learn on how to present myself in a semi-formal social environment, be more talkative and open to others and actually speak out loud about my ideas and curiosity.

It was a blast! Looking forward towards another event in the future.

Behind that Shiny Resume by Jasmine Yow

Living a life as an overachiever student is very complicated.
Your parents and teachers push you to the limit and unaware of your own passion and feeling.

Depression is very common among youth, and loneliness make the situation worst. Weight changes, sleep disturbance and deep fatigue are the symptoms of depression.

Whenever I think of my experience during A Level and my 2 years uni life in Bath, I can't quite describe all those feeling and honestly I can't remember most of my feeling for the duration of these 4 years of my life. Whenever I close my eyes and try recall the memories , all I can remember is loneliness and hunger. Luckily, I have a blog that remind me of details I forgot.

Failing my papers during my second year in Bath is the peak of my depression period. I can't even read the examinations paper and I had almost a blank paper answer paper to submit. I even fail on paper that I studied and understand well because of the anxiety. Of course I am very sorry for my parents when they have to answer these questions: why is Sing Sing is not in the UK? Why is she so fat?

I am a cliche because I can excel only in my comfort zone, where less is expected from me and clearly I am a little bit above average. It doesn't really matter, because I am happy and healthy and I found my way out of depression.

Thank god for the second opportunity and I will make my parents proud of me again one day.

The White Saga is Back

with problems of course.

Don't trust people at EON. They stole the saga rubber mat and they didn't fix the aircond properly.

But I am glad the saga is mine again.

I need an adventure.
Something refreshing.
Something new.
Far away from all ignorant people.
Someone new to know.
Far away from immature people.
